Tinyvic x Vocal jazz series presents
Concert #1 : Sara Kim Group
Sara Kim is a versatile vocalist who draws inspiration from classic jazz vocalists such as Sarah Vaughan, and Ella Fitzgerald in her phrasing and melodic exploration and is also greatly inspired by iconic horn players such as Wayne Shorter, and Chris Potter in her tone and improvising.
She recently returned to Vancouver after living in Korea for six months where she was trained in Korean traditional vocal music.
Her first set will showcase originals, as well as beloved jazz standards.
For the second set, Sara will present materials from her "물레방아: Mullae-banga", in English, "Watermill" project. Based on Korean traditional vocal music, Sara infuses elements of jazz, folk, and improvised music with her unique take on the traditional genre.
