A large cast of Vancouver improvisers celebrate the visit of Montréal guests Ellwood Epps and Vicky Mettler with a marathon of improvised music! From 7pm to 10:30pm, musicians play on affinities between musique actuelle and west coast improvisation. A new work by Róisín Adams, in • determinancy, explores fate, autonomy and fortune. Montréal trumpeter Ellwood Epps and guitarist Vicky Mettler are guest artists for a ten-day residency with Vancouver improvising musicians. Trading Places: Un'échange d'Improvisateurs Montréal-Vancouver is a vibrant residency program begun in 2016 that takes place in two of Canada's foremost centers of improvised music. This year, the program runs in Montréal from June 2 - 11 and Vancouver from November 6 - 17. Multiple presenters from Montréal and Vancouver curate in collaboration, providing emerging and established musicians support for their artistic practice and opportunities for growth through cultural exchange, placing talent in agreement with opportunity.
