Ida Toninato: L’Atlas des films de Giotto — Musiques réelles pour films imaginaires

  • The Wilder 1435 Rue de Bleury Montréal, QC, H3A 2H7 Canada (map)

INSPIRED BY THE EPONYMOUS BOOK BY ROBER RACINE

Presented as part of a carte blanche musician Ida Toninato, this concert marks vividly the beginning of the 41 th season of SuperMusique Productions.

This concert-collage designed by Ida Toninato is inspired by the book The Atlas of Giotto's films by Rober Racine. Giotto, an airplane pilot, transports lunar soil samples on behalf of NASA to museums all over the world. In The Atlas, he compiles the summaries of the 230 films watched during his travels, in fifty-two cities in twelve countries spread over four continents, for his daughter. A veritable mine of poetry and bewitching inventiveness so specific to Rober Racine, this Atlas was indeed the spark and the starting point of Ida Toninato's project. To achieve it, she surrounded herself with three other composers and two videographers. They chose among the scenarios of the Atlas of Rober Racine those which inspired them the most to create their own sound images, their very real music ...

The concert presents four musical works related to image or light : two of the creations, that of Ida Toninato and the director Robin Pineda Gould as well as that of the composer Pierre-Luc Lecours and the director Myriam Boucher combine music and video projections. . The two other works on the program, that of the composers Rémy Bélanger de Beauport and Gaëtan Gravel, merge, for their part, with the lighting of Karine Gauthier. Here are four very real works that explore with force the contours of written and improvised music.

The works are interpreted and exalted by the excellent and incomparable instrumentalists of the Ensemble SuperMusique.

Productions SuperMusique has been a member of Vivier since 2017.

A presentation of SuperMusique in co-production with Ida Toninato and Le Vivier.
