Thad Bailey-Mai embraces the experimental aesthetics of modern jazz trumpet while grounding himself in traditions set by legends of the genre. With influences ranging from Woody Shaw and Ambrose Akinmusire to Vancouver’s own Brad Turner and Vince Mai, Thad leads David Blake guitar, Eli Davidovici bass, and drummer Mili Hong through intricate compositions and unrestrained improvisation.
